Harper Reed is an entrepreneur and engineering veteran with 15+ years of experience developing meaningful and impactful technology that has been recognized globally. Reed is currently the Head of Commerce for Braintree, where he oversees the technology that enables merchants to provide contextual commerce capabilities making buying and selling a seamless experience.
Braintree, which was acquired by PayPal in 2013, powers payments for thousands of mobile commerce leaders including Airbnb, GitHub, and Uber. Reed joined Braintree through the company’s acquisition of Modest,Inc., a company he co-founded in 2012 to improve end-to-end experiences for merchants by making selling on any platform easier and simpler.
Prior to Modest, Reed revolutionized technology’s role in politics through his appointment as Chief Technology Officer for President Obama’s 2012 reelection campaign. Reed also served as CTO of online clothing company Threadless.com for four years.
